What does SOMAMA mean?
It means “from the mother” in isiZulu.  For a full explanation of how we came up with this name please visit the about page.

Where can I find SOMAMA products?
We currently only stock health shops and certain pharmacies in South African. We also stock Everfresh grocery stores in Kwa-Zulu Natal and Wellness Warehouse stores in Western Cape. For a full store list please visit Stockists.

If you are a store owner and would like to stock SOMAMA or are struggling to obtain our products for personal use then please contact us. Please put us in contact with your local health shop if they do not stock SOMAMA products. Buying SOMAMA products from health shops is more cost effective due to shipping costs for small quantities.

I want to see your product before I buy it, why don’t you have a “window on the packaging?
Research has shown that a transparent plastic window on the packaging would expose products to UV light and Oxygen. This can significantly speed up the degradation of a product thereby affecting quality. This is a problem with Goji Berries as the antioxidants and vitamin C are sensitive to these elements.

Our multi-layer Foil packaging is specifically designed for maximum shelf life and to prevent the outside elements from getting in. It also has a resealable zipper to make sure that you can keep the freshness in even after you have opened the pack. A window would compromise the integrity of the packaging and therefore the quality of our Goji Berries.

Why is there no specific region listed on your packaging e.g Tibet, Ninjxia?
We source the best quality Goji Berries from China (Tibet and Ninjxia are provinces of China).

Why is organic certification important?
In short: Organic certification is done by independent companies, who certify that a product is GMO and chemical (e.g. fertilizers, pesticides) free.  This is carried out by lab tests and field visits.
Our plain Goji Berries are organic certified (CNAS) and contain no additives or preservatives.
